A: Teamspeak 3
Guide on how to install and customize it - http://chippermonkey.net/index.php/grasshyren/teamspeak-3-guide

Q: Where is the Teamspeak 3 server information?

A: Here - http://chippermonkey.net/index.php/teamspeak

A: Through Sub Saturday (Currently on hiatus)

Q: What do you use to record your games?

A: FRAPS
Guide on FRAPS & Editing - http://chippermonkey.net/index.php/grasshyren/fraps-guide

Q: Do you record every game?

A: Yes, when my hard drive isn't full and I remember to hit F9 X_X

Q: What do you use to edit your videos ?

Additional info about my encoding process here - http://chippermonkey.net/index.php/grasshyren/encoding-videos-guide

Download

http://www.xsplit.com/

If you plan to do streaming of gaming I would suggest signing up for (This will also guarantee you get into the xsplit beta):
http://www.own3d.tv/

First Things First

-Selecting one of the 12 buttons on the lower right
-Now click the "Add" button in the lower left
Here you can add either a Camera (If you want to broadcast yourself) or a Screen Region (For desktop/games)
-Once you have selected one of the two it will create an object on the viewport, just drag the upper left and lower right corners so that it spans the whole screen (or else what you stream will be ~1/10th the size of what you're actually doing)

Menu Options To Change

-View -> Scale Viewport
Set this to 10% (So the broadcaster isn't so obnoxiously big on your screen :D)
-View -> Resolution
Set this to your computers current resolution (If you don't see it on the list, give 1280x720 a try)
-View -> Framerate
15 FPS should be good for this (If your computer/connection can handle it you can try to stream at higher FPS, but you can find a good number on your own)

Add Your Streaming Account

-Tools -> Settings
*Optional* Under the "General" tab you can select the "Enable Skype interaction" checkbox if use skype
-Click the "Channels" tab
-Click the "Add..." button and choose the service you have an account for
-Fill in your account info
-Choose the following Settings

#Video Settings

Preset: streaming
Quality: 6 (Can be set higher if your computer/connection can handle it)
Max Bitrate: 1600 (Should be adjusted up or down depending on what your internet connection can handle)
Resolution: Default Mixer Resolution
Codex: *Leave this alone*
Buffer Size: *Leave this alone*

#Audio Settings

Format: 44.100 khz 16bit Stereo
Bitrate: 64000
Codec: MP3

*Optional* Checkbox at bottom

Automatically record broadcast (Check this if you want a recording of your stream)
*Do note* this does not save a copy on the service you stream to, it saves a copy locally. To access this copy go to Tools -> My Xsplit Files...
You should see a folder for each service you stream to click on the one you want to access. Right click on any of the files you want and choose "Save As" and save it to your computer! **Also note** You will want to delete any files you don't want or it will become cluttered!

Go Live!

Now all you have to do to make the stream go live is Broadcast -> *The service you want to go live*
And to stop broadcasting go to Broadcast -> *Select the service again*

*IMPORTANT NOTES*

Thanks to kdizz for reminding me, you need to run the game in windowed mode or various side effects will happen when you stream! (Screen flickering, random error messages, etc.)

After you have set the game to windowed mode you can download this program: http://grismar.net/shiftwindow/ to make it appear as fullscreen!

Encoding The Video

Encoding your videos with a codec is a very vital part of preparing your videos for viewing, during the process of encoding you can edit the video by cutting out and adding sections to the video or if you have more advanced tools (such as Sony Vegas) add effects and text overlays. Aside from those encoding also cuts down on the file size of your video dramatically, (Normally a FRAPS recording for me is ~4 gigabytes for a 1m30s clip, after encoding it sits around 100 megabytes) allowing for more manageable uploads to your video site of choice and shorter loading times for viewers.

Virtual Dub

I then use VirtualDub to edit and compress the video using the XVid Codec (Gotten from the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack) and here's a guide on how to use the XVid codec:
VirtualDub: http://www.virtualdub.org/
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack: http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm ***Be sure to get the Mega version :P***
Guide: http://lparchive.org/techsupport/guide-2passvdub.html **Although instead of using 1000 bitrate, up it to 3000 and you're good to go!**

Sony Vegas Users

If you want to use Sony Vegas for your editing try the following:
Sony Vegas Rendering Codec (Be sure to change the framerate to what you recorded at!)

Noise Removal

For those who have heavy noise because of your microphone or fans in the background then here is a REALLY handy guide to fix it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlKX6p85R2M
**Note: I realize that the video itself does have noise in it (lol) but it does work well, I have used this technique before in some of my announcement videos!

Here is an example video of these settings in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szJEMPuatv0

Since so many people have asked what I use to record:
http://www.fraps.com/
**Note: You can only record 30 seconds at a time if you use the trial version, however you can purchase the retail version if you want to record longer clips***

FRAPS Settings Explained:

1 - Checking DWM will enable you to record your desktop and even your browser! This setting should be left unchecked unless you are doing a recording of the desktop or broswer as it can potentially cause slowdowns when recording your actual game footage.

2 - Location where the footage will be recorded. Try to record onto a hard drive other then your C:\ Drive, as running your OS, Game, and Recording to the same drive will bog things down. Be sure to have enough space, my recordings currently take up ~4 gigabytes for 1m30s of recording!!!

3 - The Frames Per Second (FPS) at which your recording will be played back at. Take careful note of what you choose here as higher FPS means more required space for recordings! My preffered FPS is 30 as it does not affect the game too badly while offering minimum space taken for recordings.

4 - The important thing to note is full-size allows you to have higher quality recordings but at the cost of file size. So just give each setting a try and see which you prefer.
Full-size is the screen size of the game being recorded (Ex. if your game's resolution is set to 800x600, then the recording size will be 800x600)
Half-size is the screen size of the game being recorded cut in half (Ex. if your game's resolution is set to 800x600, then the recording size will be 400x300)

5 - Holding down the Video Capture Hotkey will turn the FPS pink and enter "Loop" recording. Once in "Loop" recording Fraps will recording the last x seconds of gameplay in a temporary buffer and will re-record over this buffer constantly, once you press the Video Capture Hotkey again will save that buffer and continue recording as FRAPS normally does. This setting affects how long your "Loop" recording buffer is. (Ex. 300 seconds is a 5 min buffer)

6 - This feature enables recording of all the sounds produced by the computer, including the game, OS, and any applications you may have running.
Stereo for 2-speaker/heaphones configuration
Multichannel for Surround Sound setups

7 - This setting allows you to record external input such as the microphone you use to communicate with your friends, just be sure you have the correct device selected!

8 - Allows you to only capture the sound from your external input (The device from 7) when you press a button on your keyboard, this is really useful for when you use push-to-talk on VoIP programs like Teamspeak and Ventrillo.

9 - Lowers the application's FPS to the setting in (3) for smoother recordings, I always have this enabled!
